Some music is a place. Some songs are a refuge, a place you want to visit when you need somewhere that isn't your own life. A place that will always just be there.
Jack Johnson's sixth studio album, From Here To Now To You, that place, just as all of its predecessors were. I think you could shuffle all the songs on these albums and still come up with six lovely and cohesive records. Six coastlines that ebb and flow so that you can go to them no matter how lucky or sad you feel, and they will be just right. Six little islands you can go to and live on for a little while to just be yourself.
This music is not a challenge that makes your mind tune in differently. It's not concerned with keeping up and plugging in. It is simply beautiful and hopeful. And it is yours, whenever you need it.
Found my foundation.
It was underneath me all along,
and this path I'm on I'll
never walk alone.
And I've been erasing,
rewrote the second half like this
so my protagonist might find
his way back home.
