I like to give years grand theme names, though it's almost impossible to do until after they're over.
For instance, 2010 was the Year of Magical Thinking. 2011 was the Move-In Year. And 2012 was my Early Mid-Life Crisis Year. It was also the Year R. Kelly Saved Christmas, but that's another story.
I wonder, though, if it wouldn't be better to name these years beforehand. Maybe it would help influence the year in an upwardly-mobile positive way. Perhaps I'll call 2013 The Year I Learned Calligraphy. I'm hoping it turns out to be The Year of Many Books Read. And of course I'm betting it will be The Best First Year of Marriage Ever.
