Every little thing is coming together to show me that fall is here. It gets dark before I leave work and it is still agonizingly dark when I get up in the morning. And today we had our first rainstorm of the season, a real doozy. I got to use my new leaf umbrella for the first time - yay!
But it's music that tells me first and foremost that the year is drawing to a close. I've already started working on my 2009 top ten albums list and this weekend I'm gonna go out and start buying some of the candidate records on vinyl. And still there is so much good new music pouring in.
Pursuit of Happiness - KiD CuDi feat. MGMT & Ratatat I wasn't sure about the KiD CuDi album after the first couple of listens, but Carolyn's enthusiasm for it made me give it another go, and I am SO glad I did. Cudi's slick hip hop just came together for me and I'm especially loving on this inspiring collaboration. Best of all worlds right here.
When We Swam - Thao with the Get Down Stay Down The latest release by Thao and the GDSD is full of the sparkling, quirky, original sound that I've come to expect from her work. It's just so very diverse and interesting. Funky fresh :)
Careful - Paramore What can I say about the newest Paramore album except that it is all that I hoped for and more. They just have such passion and god, can they rock. When she sings "the truth never set me free, so I'll do it myself", it just kills me.
Blue Hotel - Ryan Adams This is not a new song, but would it really be autumn without some Ryan Adams? Who else can better usher in the long nights and the crisp, quiet days that have memories falling all around you like turning leaves.
