Mid Week Mini Music Mix
Busy, busy, busy week. I wish there was more time to stop and savor the details, but as it is, I'm just trying to take it all in and, you know, actually show up to all the things I have scheduled. Life is very good, I think.
Better Than This - Keane You know, I think I like Tom Chaplin's voice more than ever before and I still love Keane's soaring sound.
Love Song For A Schubas Bartender - Margot & the Nuclear So & So's Jess introduced me to this awesome band a couple of years ago and I've been eagerly awaiting their newest. To my surprise they're releasing two albums, kind of. The band's preferred tracklist will receive a vinyl release called Animal! while the label's picks get a regular cd release under the moniker Not Animal. Animal! is definitely moodier, but holy crap I'm loving them both.
Bitch Went Nuts - Ben Folds Okay, so the only reason I even listened to this album was because of the title of this song. Turns out it's kind of catchy, which I guess is no surprise. It's like a not nearly as awesome version of Ben Folds Five's "Song For The Dumped", though it does have the line "she stabbed my basketball."
July Jones - The New Pornographers If this song, and this whole album in general, does not put a smile on your face, then I do not know what to do. I might have to wash my hands of you completely. <3 the New Pornographers.

i just bought tickets for the margot and your band's name is too long for november.... i didn't hear the new one yet but i could still listen to 'skeleton key' on repeat for hours. ;)
i always like new pornographers songs when they come up on shuffle. but when i try to intentionally listen to the albums...it never works for me. dunno what the problem is!! :)

Aw, lucky! They played this past week here, but I didn't find out until after the show.
New Pornos are great in short bursts. Or in long spells, too :) Then again, I have the hugest girlcrush on Neko Case.
